five alarm funk in the same set as fat freddy's drop?! i'm honoured! (i play congas in FAF and am a huge FFD fan)
ReplyDeleteOK, Tom Towers! I get it now, conga! I just got back from seeing Five Alarm Funk at Phog (Mar. 9/11) and FINALLY! I feel as though I've redeemed myself. I missed FAF the first time you played here in Windsor (in Aug.2010?).
ReplyDeleteI knew FAF was good from listening to your latest record, but I also knew that with all them horns and drums and guys up there that it's gotta be about the LIVE SHOW!
-- Oh, it's good to be right sometimes! You guys have everything you need... musicianship, great songs, sweat, polyrhythms galore, charisma, near-nudity, and funk fuNK FUNK!
The truth is I could only see what you were doing if I went outside and squinted through the fog on the front window - there was a crowd out there watching you.
It didn't matter that I had no view, I could hear everything, and from the first song to the last encore I could not stop dancing, which is about as good as life gets...
Thank you boys, ... such good boys, such nice boys...
Go Tom Towers... play those congas!
